Secondly, always have your child use the bathroom right before bedtime. This is going to take a concentrated effort on the parent's part. You won't be able to just send them off to bed on their own; the bedtime routine must be established. If you're going through the same routine every evening they will get accustomed to it.

What do I do for an 8 year old son who wets the bed approx. 3 days a week?
My son just turned 8 this week. I still have to buy pull-ups for him because he wets the bed 3-4x a week. I have tried nothing to drink after 6, eliminating the pull-ups, waking him up throughout the night to go to the bathroom and none of it has worked. I know there are costly items you can buy such as alarms when the bed is getting wet but I would really like him to kick this habit on his own. He is a very active boy, only 47 lbs and is in perfect health.

Some research has indicated that children who sleep heavily may have a decrease in ADH (antidiuretic hormone) during sleep. DDAVP is an synthetic antidiuretic hormone available in both pill form and as a nasal spray. It is a treatment NOT a cure. Your child could outgrow the problem or not. Speak with your pediatrician and possibily get a referral to a pediatric urologist.
