Glitter Pompoms
Oh, how little girls love glitter and color. They also love to create <a href="http://www.cptoys.com/cgi-bin/cptoys_cgi.sh/WService=cptoys/cptoys.com/school/2.0/category.htm?dept_id=Art">arts and crafts</a> projects for fun and for gifts. Little girls over three years of age will delight in adding these colorful glitter pompoms to their craft projects. The multi-colored collection comes with 20 one-inch pompoms and 65 one-half inch pompoms, more than enough for several projects.
Little girls will come up with all kinds of ideas for using these pompoms, but in case they need some ideas, here are some. First, they can be used to decorate wrapped packages and gift bags. Use plain colored gift bags and attach glittery pompoms to the bag. Choose a colorful ribbon to finish off the gift bag.
Handmade greeting cards are a special way to wish happy birthday. The card can be made out of card stock or construction paper. The design can incorporate pompoms for a colorful splash of texture. For example, how about drawing flowers with the flower centers being a pompom? For Easter, draw bunnies with colorful, glitter pompom tails. A clown makes a cheerful child's birthday card. First draw a simple clown with hat. Use a small pompom for the clown's nose and a larger pompom for the top of the clown's hat.
The small pompoms can be used for a cute caterpillar birthday card for a young child. Use the small pompoms for this one, and glue them to show the caterpillar creeping along in the grass. Be sure to draw and color the grass and flowers around the fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar.
The benefits of creating arts and crafts projects are many. Children can learn some important values and characters traits when they make arts and crafts projects. For one, they learn the importance of delayed gratification. In our microwave society, adults and children expect to have everything finished before they even start. People just are not used to taking time to create the best product they can. Working on an art project requires time and patience in order to get a finished project that is pleasing.
Arts and Crafts activities provide opportunities for school children to interact as they work. They have to spend a lot of time in school quietly working on independent seat work, so the chance to chat and enjoy each other is a treat. Whether the children are working on an art project together or alone, they can still concentrate and talk at the same time. They can learn to positively complement and encourage one another as well as make constructive suggestions about the project.
