| beads information |
All you OOAK doll artists out there!!?
What's your best piece of advice? What paints do you use? What do you use to remove the manufacturer's make up? What hair styles do you like best for your dolls?
Thanx!! : )
I'm only just starting out doing repaints and such. There are plenty of sites out there with loads of information. (I have one, but there's not much there yet.)
For removing paint, I use 100% acetone nail polish remover, but I've heard people use non-acetone nail polish remover. I suppose both work fine. Whichever you use, be sure to only use as much as needed (with a cotton swab) and wipe off any excess, or else the vinyl with wrinkle. (Fun fact: If you soak a vinyl head in acetone, it will shrink!)
For painting, any sort of acryllic paint will do. I use higher quality art acryllic because I have it handy (I'm an art student) and I like the way it flows better.
I haven't messed much with hair styling, but with what I have done, it really depends on the doll's hair type. Whatever the style, though, having small pieces of "detail styling," like a few tiny curls in front, or some tiny braids help finish off a doll nicely.
