Custom Jewelry - Insider Secrets To Get It Right
Planning to buy a piece of custom jewelry? You'll need to be sure and follow the expert tips below. Doing so will help you steer clear of some common problems while commissioning your custom piece.
Imagine an occasion coming up, an engagement or maybe a charity event. You are hoping to commission a jewel: perhaps a pendant, ring, necklace, or something in your mind's eye without a name.
It has to be unique, not catalog-ware. While investigating the possibilities, you visit local jewelers. All you know is that you want top quality.
What about a silversmith? Or a goldsmith? Or whatever you call someone who works with diamonds?
Suddenly you realize that you have no idea how to tell if a designer or a piece is really good or just mediocre. It's the classic dilemma: only a jeweler knows the difference.
By now you're aware that you're going to need some trustworthy expert advice in order to make a good selection of the jewelry designer for your piece. Where will you find that advice? That's what this article is all about. These are hard-won tips learned from inside the trade.
Once you read and digest them, your navigation through the deep waters of jewelry design will be much easier. And you will be far more likely to end up with just the jewel you were hoping for.
Here are the insider tips. Use them and they will be as good as gold.
- Don't think of custom jewelry design as a commodity. You will actually find some jewelers who make a selling point of letting shoppers test a look-alike piece before they commit to buying. But if you want a custom design, you're not looking for a look-alike.
- Another sales approach is to pick a design out of a catalog that thousands of other people also look at. Again, is it unique?
- A work of art is something touched by human hands and spirit. A computer can produce music very quickly, but where is its soul? It may be able to play chess and win, but where is the audacity? Real art doesn't come out of a computer. That requires an artist.
- By definition, a designer has some kind of background in design and usually in art. Having works in museums or in print is even better. It shows you that knowledgeable experts and artists respect your designer. And if you still want further verification, he or she should be able to draw you a picture of the complete piece as you watch. No room for hand-waving or smoke and mirrors.
- You are going to want a personal connection with a designer, not a salesperson.
- One way to recognize a real designer is by how busy he or she is. You won't see much showing off, you'll see designing.
- You will no doubt prefer not to drop off an existing irreplaceable piece to be reworked or repaired, if it would leave your sight for any period of time. Many owners of unique pieces want them to stay that way. If this describes you, then you will appreciate being able to wait while the work is done.
- The designer's direct dealings with the suppliers of the materials that go into your jewelry mean substantial savings for you.
- Another source of savings is being spared inflated prices that are really paying for the beautifully decorated showroom or exclusive location. If it looks expensive, it probably is. Why should you have to pay more if it has nothing to do with the actual jewelry you're buying?
- Finally, you will have a much better experience with a designer who cares about you as a person, not just as a source of income. Such a designer may not have a fixed price because he or she adjusts to each unique customer, piece, and situation. You will be unique to this designer, and valued as such. Your relationship also helps the designer to see through your eyes to understand what you are really looking for.
These are only a few examples of the the insider secrets that jewelry buyers would benefit from if only knew about them. And we have not even talked about the more technical issues like EGL/GIA certification or the four "C"s of diamond cut, color, clarity, and carat.
No matter how much some jewelry sellers may protest to you, not all of them put your interests first. As it is in most markets, you must remember to "let the buyer beware".
Since a custom piece of jewelry is so important to you financially, personally, and socially, it is well worth your effort to take these tips seriously as you look for the designer who will bring your custom jewel into the world.

I want to know why Rumika takahashi not planning to make more show of inuyasha?
I know the show inuyasha finish with 167 episodes but their were some things that was not finish like naraku didn't die kohaku sill have the secret jewel shard on his back and some others things that was still not finish why can't he make more episode of inuyasha why he stop making new episode?
It's not up to her, really. She's a mangaka and they aren't the ones who decides on how long the series should go on. It depends on the animation company. And 167 is very long for an anime series actually..
