can anyone please tell me their experience with healing a broken leg?
I broke my leg below the knee 6 weeks ago and it is taking forever to heal, I still have pain at night and it is hard to bend my knee! I am told I need to be on crutches another month, and then on a walker for a few weeks, before I can walk on my own!
I have no insurance and the bills are running high!
Now they want to sell me a dyna splint, to help with exercising my leg, do I really need that ?
You have my sympathy! August 14 of this year my tibia broke just below the knee! First of all let me say this, I learned what REAL pain feels like and I am not impressed! I was non weight bearing for three months and I thought it would never end! And yes, it will be hard to bend your knee but ever so gently, when the doctor says it is okay, start working it to get the stiffness out of it. You will get movement back in your leg again, I promise. One thing I can tell you, don't expect too much too soon, you will be dissapointed. And much patience is needed but in time you will be okay. Too, I don't know what a dyna splint is! I was in a leg brace for a very long time, as a matter of fact, just got rid of it today, went to a knee hinge. So, if a splint is the same thing as a brace, yes, you need it to protect your leg and if you don't have it you could hurt your leg again and have to start over! You don't want to do that! Take care of your leg by the book! And, I also have sympathy for the medical bills. I am beginning to think my great great grandchildren will be finishing paying mine. I had to be airlifted when the tibia broke. That bill alone was 12,707.00 I am not kidding and insurance didn't cover one penny of it. Plus I had two hospital stays and a few ambulance rides. I even got a blood clot. But guess what, I am alive and here to complain and worry about the bills. My point is, put your health first, bills second. Some of them, maybe you can find a way to get reduced? At least talk to your doctor to find out.
