Why does my cat sit in one spot the last few days?

My cat has been sitting in one particular area, almost the exact same spot by the inch, over the last 3-5 days. He hasn't peed, he's not sitting on top of anything, he's not hidden at all. Why would he suddenly be obsessed sitting in one area of the house? I don't have any other pets, and we've lived here almost a year. I've never seen him do this before!

You said you and your cat have lived there for ALMOST a year...perhaps your cat just finally found a place he/she likes...and I'm sure you don't sit in front of him all day and stare...he probably pees, but just not at the same time you are around or looking at him...
