How To Produce A Polished Porcelain Tile In China?
China is the largest manufacture county for ceramic tile in the world. And polished porcelain tile have shared more than 40% in total volume. Now, worldwide importer, wholesaler, even manufactures come to China for purchase. So I want to introduce the production flow of polished porcelain tiles to you. It can help you to find a good quality suppliers.
Just imagine that producing porcelain tiles is like making cookies: 1.Get the wheat meal, 2. Press to shape , 3. Fire. Then cookies come out.
1. For polished porcelain tiles, the "wheat meal" is the powder. It is made from stone, sand and mud.
How to make the three materials into powder?
it need 4 processes.
A. Stone, sand, mud mixed in prorate.
B. Ball mill with water, it need 12-14 hours. (See the machine by picture)
Then the mixture have to be removed iron by equipment, if you see the tiny black spot in the surface, it is tiny iron powder. Black spot should be less than 0.1mm in size for good suppliers..
C. Spray Tower Drying (See Pictures)
After removing iron, the mixture will go to the spray tower for drying. Then the powder come out. D. Reserve and Staleness
The powder will be store in big cans for reserve and staleness, so as to make the same color shade when producing. As a project, the construction company always request 3000 or 5000 SQM in the same color. So, the larger are the cans, the better are they..
2. Press to shape. The pressing machine can shape in size what we want: 600x600mm 800x800mm 1000x1000mm. The pressure is from 3500 tons to 7200 tons. Last 10 years, Sacmi Pressing machine is polular in Foshan manufacture. But now local pressing machine achieve the same effect with cheaper price. So, most of the new plant have used the local pressing machine.
3. Fire in kiln. The kiln is from 180 to 260 metre long, inside tempreture is 1240 degree.. The production volume is around 6000 sqm to 11000 SQM per day. After firing in the kiln, porcelain tile have already come out, but the surface is still matt.
4.Polished.
We use the polish machine to polish, then it is polished porcelain tile.
In China, some small factories only have polish machines, they buy the porcelain tile body from another factory and sell in a cheap price. We call these kind of manufacturers as " Polished Guy"
